Each Tuesday of July from 12:30-1:30, the Eco Emporium will be hosting a workshop to teach a skill that will help you replace your plastic packaging with an alternative. After the workshop, you're welcome to stay on to finish or make more of what we're creating. If you can't attend a workshop, we'll post videos, instructions & recipes. You can attend one or all the workshops.
10 July: Making re-usable cloth grocery and produce bags so you don't need to take a plastic bag at the check-out.
17 July: Making beeswax cloth wraps and learning the art of «furoshiki»--Japanese cloth gift wrap
24 July: No packaging & healthy muesli & snack mixes including energy balls.
31 July: Making your own body products
For the first two workshops, if you have a specific fabric you want to use, bring it along. We'll also make no sew bags so bring along a t-shirt to cut up.
Bag making is a skill we can teach or you can come in to do it on your own during normal Eco Emporium hours but call to schedule a time to come in.
For the last two workshops, bring glass jars or other containers to take away some samples.
If you want to organise a plastic-free workshop at your residence hall or with a group, email Sam to arrange.
FREE hot chocolate or lemonade served in a $7 re-usable University of Waikato stainless steel mug or bring your own re-usable mug.
